After reading the Death of Superman comic books in 1992, I was devastated.
I was under the impression that DC Comics had made an executive decision to literally cancel the Man of Steel forever and ever!
It was no secret that sales of the Superman comics were slumping. Could the DC bullpen (artists and editorial staff) have arrived at the decision to take my beloved hero out in a blaze of glory?
Apparently so!
One afternoon just before Thanksgiving in 1992, I found myself hanging out with MIchael Hicks discussing why I was so emotionally distraught. He shared some of his latest musical creations in an effort to cheer me up. One particular composition really stood out. It resonated with the way I was feeling so much so that I began to conceive lyrics to accompany its somber melody.
This website is my way of finally sharing what became an incredible group effort to pay musical tribute to Superman’s passing.
